Year of establishment: Honours course in 2006 and General course in 2004. Infrastructure:

• 2 well-equipped laboratory,
• Departmental Seminar library and also shares all other central infrastructure of the college like ICT enabled classroom, library with other departments etc.

A BRIEF OF THE DEPARTMENT

The inception of the B.A Honours course in Journalism & Mass Communication in the year 2006 and general in 2004 with affiliation to the University of Calcutta. Five years later i.e. in 2011, the college faced a change in affiliation to West Bengal State University, Barasat (North 24 Parganas). The huge popularity of the subject due to its practical aspect and  good job prospect, the department has been an important part of the institution since its establishment.

 

Journalism and Mass Communication is especially a favorite subject for students as it is job oriented and multi-faceted in character. A student who passes out from the department can have access to multifarious jobs like reportr, editor, PRO, Advertising executive, film and documentary maker as well as a multimedia specialist, just to name a few.

 

The subject is interdisciplinary in nature, with associations in Sociology, political Science, language studies and Women Studies.

 

The department has teachers with high potential .
