History of the Department: The three year undergraduate course in the Environmental Science Department commenced in the year 2018  along with the new Choice Based Credit System. Most importantly this is the first undergraduate Environmental Science Department under the affiliation of West Bengal State University. The students are from various undergraduate honours and general disciplines may opt Environmental Science as a Generic Elective and Discipline Specific Core respectively. Besides theoretical and practical classes, students are also encouraged to undertake value-added projects for their carrier upliftment.

Faculties of repute from various science department of our College– Geography, Zoology, Chemistry, Botany, Food and Nutrition, Physiology, etc. along with other guest faculties from Management and Technology Institution/ Industries are taking classes regularly The faculties have also performed active participatory roles in making the undergraduate syllabus. Meanwhile faculties have given several invited lectures at other Institutions. The Department has also organized several workshops and seminars in collaboration with other esteemed Institutions.

The laboratory facility of the Department is worth mentioning. The bondage of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the Department and also the students have made it possible to crystallize a department as a successful one and this endeavour will ensure its significant contribution in the field of future Environmental Science research.
