Year of establishment: 1959 as a general subject, Honours in 2001.

Infrastructure: One departmental staff room and class room, one well equipped seminar library and also shares all other central infrastructure of the college like ICT enabled classroom, central library with other departments.

Intake Capacity: 47 (27 UR, 10 SC, 4 ST, 4 OBC- A, 2 OBC- B, 3% of each category PC)

Brief: The department was set up in 1959 with the General UG course. In 2001 the department started Honours course in Philosophy. The department aims at building a strong foundation of philosophy. Starting from the journey of the Dept. of philosophy at this college, there were many prominent scholars who have worked in this centre. The most important thing of this department is the consistency of students’ progress in their result and other academic activities. The department frequently organizes national seminar, workshop, and extension lecture poster presentation, wall magazine competition for the development of students’ quality in the first hand and building research oriented mind-set among the student. The department also has highly qualified teacher strength.

Many of our alumnae are now well established in various fields of government and private sectors like schools, colleges, banks and many other sectors.
