Year of Establishment: Honours in 2001, General in 1959 Infrastructure: Departmental room, Class room. Shares all other central infrastructure of the college like ICT enabled classroom, library with other departments. Intake capacity: 24 (UR 13, 5 SC, 1 ST, 2 OBC-A, 2 OBC-B, 1 PC). Besides class room lectures the teaching learing process in the department includes educational excursion (laboratory visits), extension lectures delivered by eminent resource persons, interdisciplinary lab quiz and small projects or presentation by the students. Special attention in lab training and conduction of regular parent-teacher meetings facilitate students to communicate more comfortably with the faculties. Apart from scheduled examinations class tests are conducted at regular intervals to monitor the progress of the students.

Undergraduate students (Honours and General) from the Department of Chemistry visited the Physical, Organic and Inorganic laboratories in the Department of Chemistry at Jadavpur University on 21.11.2017, under the guidance of the faculties (Dr. Amrita Banerjee, Dr. Sumana Ghosh and Shri Gopal Kanrar). The group of 30 students visited the research laboratories of Prof. Nitin Kumar Chattopadhyay, Prof. Rina Ghosh, Prof. Subhash Chandra Bhattacharyya and Prof. Saurabh Das where the Scientists arranged academic discussion sessions on their research projects and Research Scholars presented live demonstrations of the laboratory instruments.
